What’s the difference between Vision Art Aluminum’s bi fold doors and the sliding glass doors? Bifold doors fold like an accordion/concertina and slide flawlessly with our state of the art German hardware…the best in the world! Gorgeous addition to any home!

See Above: Bi fold doors almost completely open. What a view!

Sliding doors use larger glass doors, minus the “vertical panels” of glass like bifold’s “slabs of glass” it’s a style issue of personal desire and opinion. What’s YOUR FANCY?
Bi fold doors can be folded almost all the way back (see above) providing home owners with a panoramic look at the topography…a gorgeous landscape that’s all yours. It’s a breath-taking view almost entirely opening up one wall to your pool, patio and garden. These bi-fold doors will add the wow factor to your home depending, of course, on the terrain of your yard, patio, pool, etc. Your living space can “explode” with a flowing indoor-outdoor space.

The common sliding door, usually, only opens to the left or right – about 2/3s of the time.

The basic differences: sliding doors are usually larger panes of glass than the bi-folding doors. Is bigger better?

That’s, as mentioned above, a personal decision. Perhaps the advantage is for sliding doors is “more glass and less frame”… is your choice? More glass = more day light.
Vision Art Aluminum’s sliding doors have the same world class German hardware, the best in the world, like every single one of our made to order products.

As far as energy rating, ease of operation and costs go, both doors rate about the same.

A possible caveat?
The threshold.
What the hell is that?
Don’t panic!

It’s the “track/frame” the door operates off of and you and your family step over. It’s important because kids, the elderly, disabled people need to safely maneuver that frame….we said SAFELY. The threshold height varies and perhaps so does the mobility of your family and friends. We always urge our customers to think about the needs of your family ahead of time. When you make changes to your home, you want it to be safe today and tomorrow and all the tomorrows after that. Accidents and aging happen so this is something to discuss with us. It’s always a good idea to choose the door with the lowest threshold, obviously, because high thresholds and wheel chairs can be a REAL challenge.

Not to worry. Vision Metal Art stands ready to work with you. We will expertly advise you and make sure you get what works perfectly for you….every single time and in the tomorrows that are to come. When you make an investment in your home, we must plan for tomorrow to the extent possible now. Vision Art Aluminum is your contractor now and in the future. That’s why our reviews are PERFECT. We strive to make every customer interaction a perfect one. Come join our family and see the Vision Art Aluminum difference.
